To conduct badly-needed maintenance on Beasley Knob’s entire trail system and reroute approximately 800 feet of heavily eroded and hazardous section of the trail to improve the trail system overall.
This project also goes beyond basic maintenance by developing a new, ADA-accessible recreation space in which visitors and volunteers can rest and replenish while enjoying each other’s company. Specifically, stairs and an ADA-compliant ramp will be built to reach a new picnic area which will be developed by installing a concrete pad, grills and erecting a new pavilion.
Two new kiosks will also be installed to inform an increasing number of new outdoor enthusiasts about the area and encourage them on how to recreate responsibly.
This project will benefit outdoor and OHV enthusiasts by:
– enhancing recreation infrastructure by building a new feature, the picnic area;
– improving the trail system for safety and enjoyment;
– enhancing equitable access for people to get back to nature to renew and relax; and
– fostering an outdoor ethic through interpretive education for an ever-growing user group, the OHV community.
This project also leverages the Forest Service’s resources on the agency’s top priorities by:
– promoting shared stewardship by increasing partnerships and volunteerism;
– enhancing recreation opportunities, improving access, and sustaining infrastructure;
– being good neighbors and providing excellent customer service; and
– improving safety.
