Duncan Ranch in Converse County, Wyoming, is a school trust property acquired in 2006 to ensure public access for hunting, fishing, and non-motorized recreation. Local partners (Central Wyoming Trails Alliance and Outdoor Enthusiasts of Converse County) have already built over 5 miles of trails. This project will add a new 1.5-mile beginner’s loop, a vault toilet, and a shade structure at the trailhead to expand safe, accessible recreation opportunities for the community.
This project expands high-quality, non-motorized recreation infrastructure on public school trust land, improving access for residents and visitors in rural Converse County. It supports physical activity, mental health, family outings, hunting, fishing, and trail-based recreation. Benefits include safer beginner-friendly trails, basic amenities (restroom and shade), increased trail mileage, and stronger community partnerships. It directly serves people of all ages in an underserved rural area of Wyoming.
