Project Description

Chambers County plans to construct a new splash pad at Gregory Park in an underserved neighborhood in the Winnie/Stowell area. With the County’s $399,000 budget, a basic 1,500 sq ft splash pad with 11 spray features will be built. Oxy funding will upgrade the project to a larger 2,500 sq ft splash pad with 22 spray features organized in themed zones (Big Splash Zone, Family Zone, and Toddler/Small Kids Zone), plus a durable inclusive concrete foundation and sustainable slip-resistant coating.

Why it Matters

This project provides safe, free, family-friendly water play in an impoverished, underserved neighborhood in Chambers County. It creates equitable access to quality outdoor recreation and play spaces for children and families who currently lack nearby options. The upgraded design ensures durability, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability. Chambers County has proven success with a similar splash pad at Fort Anahuac Park (completed 2021 via public-private partnership).
