Project Description

After a historic high water event at Keystone Lake in the state of Oklahoma, much of the Washington Irving campground was underwater, including the playground for over 70 days. Debris from the high water caused some damage to the slides and limited recreation in the popular day-use area. Funding will be used to purchase ADA compliant playground equipment, help revitalize the day-use area, and greatly help the overall visitor experience and satisfaction.

Why it Matters

Washington Irving with all its diverse recreational opportunities hosts a variety of visitors from different backgrounds. The day-use area is one of the most popular spots. People come to this area to enjoy the sandy beach and cool water, grilled food with friends and family, or to take a break from boating, fishing, or hunting. Even though these visitors may be there for different reasons, they all visit to enjoy the great outdoors. Replacing the worn and damaged playground will help revitalize this area and hopefully encourage more kids and families to visit and fall in love with the great outdoors in whatever capacity it may lead to.
